Decoding Women's Reservation Bill; Why Do We Need It
The Women's Reservation Bill has been making headlines for a few weeks now. At present, there are only 82 women MPs in the Lok Sabha which comprises 543 seats. To improve this number and bring more women interested in politics, the government has reserved 181 seats. In 1952, women formed only 5% of the MPs in the Lok Sabha.
