Our mental health is a treasure that we must look after at all costs. While this has been a much-neglected topic for decades, the current generation is valuing it immensely. The GenZs and Millenials are focussing on their mental health and treating it as important. Thankfully, Bollywood is playing its part in educating us about the subject as well.
On World Mental Health Day 2023, here are a few lessons that Bollywood has taught about mental health and how you can deal with it.
1. Do What You Love
One of the best ways to keep your mental stability at bay is by being the most yourself you can be. This includes doing what you love. If you have a job that you love, you will be looking forward to getting up every day and feeling motivated about your work. Movies that teach us this lesson are ‘Tamasha’, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
2. Forgiveness
Movies like ‘Dear Zindagi’, ‘Queen’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Karwaan’ have emphasised their focus on the subject of forgiveness. It teaches the underrated power of forgiving someone who may or may not be sorry. When you let go of a grudge, it liberates you and frees you from all the negativity.

3. Self-Acceptance And Self Love
All those who feel that they aren't pretty, slim, chubby or good enough, ‘Baala’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ will tell you otherwise. No matter how you look or how your personality is, as long as you don't love yourself (Practice Self-Love With These Ways), no one else will. Accepting and embracing yourself for who you are opens gateways to a happier and healthier life.
4. It’s Okay To Lose
Movies like ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Chhichhore’ and ‘Masaan’ have taught us a valuable lesson. These movies have candidly and subtly stated that it is okay to lose as long as you do not give up. Loss is a part of life and you will never understand the value of victory until you lose.

5. Love Is The Best Solution
When movies like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘October’ and ‘The Lunchbox’ were released, they gave audiences an all-new perspective on love (Know About The 5 Love Languages). These films follow the central theme of how love and patience can change another person’s life. Those having a tough time emotionally or mentally, need your love and care. That is the best way to help them heal.
