The main door of your house is the entrance not just for you and your guests but also for positive energies and prosperity. According to Vastu Shastra, there are various directions in which the door must and must not be facing.

In India, you might be able to locate an expert who can tell you how to compensate for a vastu dosha due to the wrong direction of the main door, however, it can be a tricky task when you are living abroad.

But what if we tell you that four positive signs on your main door can help to attract prosperity into the house, no matter where you are living? In India, you would have spotted these signs quite often, in every house.

If you are living abroad, you can add these auspicious signs to your main entrance and invite good luck, wealth, success and prosperity into the house.

Om is a sign, mantra as well as syllable which is invoked during every auspicious gathering. It is said to be the sonic representation of the divine. It signifies the essence of the supreme, cosmic world and consciousness.

If you add it to your door, not only will it improve the ambience of the house but also ensure that your loved ones remain healthy. It also removes vastu dosh and opens gates for wealth.

If you are unable to find a sign, you can make it using turmeric powder (haldi) and vermilion (roli, kumkum or red turmeric). If you would like to make it permanent, you can use a paint as well.

In most Indian households, one can spot Shubh-Labh signs outside the main entrance of the house. These signs are often put together on a happy occasion or around festivals. People often discard old signs and put new ones around Diwali or even Navratri.

It is believed that Shubh and Labh were Lord Ganesha’s sons. Shubh refers to something sacred and auspicious, while Labh signifies wealth and prosperity. You can paste stickers outside the house or write with the help of vermilion. You can also draw it around the temple in the house or any other entrance door.

Followers of Hinduism consider Swastik a sacred symbol. It signifies the flow of positive energy throughout the house. Indians believe that putting the Swastika sign on the main door can remove obstacles in the way of success and prosperity.

It is an ancient symbol recognised in Africa and America as well. However, it is often confused with the symbol of the Nazi party. You must remember that while both signs look the same, there is a significant difference in how they are drawn.

In Hinduism, the sign is drawn clockwise and also symbolises the sun. It has been found in the remains of the Indus Valley Civilisation as well as cultures, including Greek, Roman and Indo-European among others. Draw it using red vermilion if you cannot find a solid sign or stickers.

Hindus believe Lord Ganesha to be the remover of obstacles which is why he is addressed as Vighnaharta. He is a God with the head of an elephant and a broken tooth.

He is believed to bless his devotees with good luck and wisdom. He is one person who prays at the beginning of every veneration. There have been many ancient texts that have descriptions of God in many forms.

If you can draw only the head of Lord Ganesha on your main door, it will be an auspicious sign that would attract prosperity and wealth into your home. You can either use vermilion or a mix of turmeric, gulal (Holi colour), vermilion and some rice paste.
