Christmas calls for cake. If you aren't a fan of the OG plum cake and craving some gooey, homemade classic chocolate cake, here are two easy-to-make, eggless chocolate cake recipes from India's most loved chef, Tarla Dalal.

Don't fret about your homemade chocolate cake tasting different without those eggs. Your home-baked chocolate cake will taste as delicious as the one you'd get from a cakery. 

Eggless Chocolate Cake Recipes For Christmas 

Eggless Chocolate Truffle Cake

Nothing really can beat the flavours of a rich chocolate truffle cake. Make one at home using a few common kitchen ingredients.

Ingredients Required:

  • 1/2 Cup Curd 
  • 1 Tsp Coffee Powder
  • 6 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 5 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 Cup Refined Flour
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • Pinch Of Salt 
  • Warm Water As Required 

For Chocolate Ganache:

  • 1 1/2 Cup Fresh Cream
  • 2 Cup Dark Chocolate 
  • Fruits/Chocolates For Decoration As Per Choice

Directions:

  • In a bowl, add coffee powder and warm water. Mix well. Keep aside. 
  • In another bowl, mix curd, oil, coffee mixture and whisk.
  • Sieve flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt. Mix all the ingredients well. 
  • Next, add in the curd mixture and 2 tbsp of warm water and start folding. 
  • Pour the batter into a greased tin lined with butter paper.

  • Bake or microwave the cake for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Let the cake cool completely.
  • Start preparing the chocolate ganache by mixing fresh cream and chopped dark chocolate in a pan over medium heat. 
  • Once you get a smooth consistency, refrigerate for a few minutes. 
  • Demould the cake and slice it into two. 
  • Spread the chocolate ganache and then top with another slice and spread an even layer of chocolate ganache.
  • Decorate the cake with fruits of choice or chocolate pieces. Slice and enjoy!

Eggless Chocolate Fudge Cake

This chocolatey cake tastes great as is and better with a cup of hot coffee. Treat yourself and your loved ones with this delicious fudge cake this festive season.

Ingredients Required:

  • 1 Cup Refined Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
  • 3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 6 Tbsp Curd
  • 5 Tbsp Milk
  • 5 Tbsp Melted Butter
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Walnuts (Walnut Snack Recipe)
  • 1/2 Tsp Icing Sugar As Required 
  • 4 Tbsp Cocoa Powder 
  • Warm Water As Required 
  • Walnuts For Decoration

Directions:

  • In a bowl, add curd, baking soda, baking powder and mix well. 
  • Sieve refined flour and cocoa powder. 
  • In another bowl, add the curd mixture, flour, cocoa powder, melted butter, powdered sugar, and milk. Mix well. 
  • Add in chopped walnuts and vanilla. Fold in all the ingredients to get a thick consistency. 
  • Grease a tin or a microwave container and pour in the chocolate mixture.
  • Bake the cake according to your microwave settings or in an oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees celsius. 
  • Let the cake cool and demould. 
  • In a bowl, add icing sugar, water, and cocoa powder. Mix well and pour the icing over the fudge cake. 
  • Decorate with walnuts. Your cake is ready to serve!
