Festive season calls for all things fried, flavourful, spicy, and sweet. We are heading towards the best part of the year when your dining table and kitchen are filled with delicacies, snacks, sweets, and whatnot. Mathri, sev, gulab jamun, puri-sabji, kaju katli, sabudana khichdi, kachori, samosas, etc. can help you witness a gastronomical heaven but also cause acidity.

Spicy and oily food, tea, coffee, resting right after meals, and carbonated drinks are all associated with discomfort, dry cough, and bitter taste. It is quite common during the festive season when you put all your guard down and cannot say no to any delicacy. 

Dr Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya, Ayurvedic Expert and Co-founder of The Kadamba Tree, shared a reel on Instagram in which she talked about three home remedies that can help you correct acid reflux ahead of this festive season.

Black Raisins For Acid Reflux

According to the expert, black raisins can help you experience relief from acidity. They are rich in magnesium and potassium. They are associated with improving digestion, thus, helping you eat all your favourite dishes without worrying about indigestion.

You need to soak 10-15 raisins overnight in a glass of water. The next morning, you can strain the water and drink it empty stomach. If you like the taste, you can also eat the soaked raisins too.

Amla And Cow Ghee For Acidity

If you have had a wonderful day of indulging in your favourite dishes and you are worried about struggling with acidity in the night or the next morning, amla and cow ghee will rescue you.

Dr Savaliya advised mixing a teaspoon of amla powder with a teaspoon of ghee. Add a cup of lukewarm water to it and drink it before bedtime. You can also consume the mixture raw and top it with warm water before going to sleep. It will work up your digestive system and help to prevent acid reflux.

Ghee is known to soften the stool and improve the digestive system. It lubricates the digestive tract and helps you to deal with the symptoms of indigestion. Amla is also associated with relieving acidity. It has a cooling effect on the digestive system and boosts immunity.

Coriander Seeds For Acidity

Dr Savaliya suggested making a drink with coriander seeds to get relief from acidity. She called this drink - Dhanyak Hima.

  • You need to crush 25 gm of coriander seeds and add 150 ml of water. 
  • Keep the seeds soaked in water for at least 8 hours. 
  • Next morning, strain the contents of the glass and drink the water with a pinch of rock sugar. The expert suggested consuming it on an empty stomach for maximum benefits.
