Karwa Chauth is approaching, and women who will be fasting on November 1, 2023, must be preparing for the fast, what to wear, Sargi, and after-fast meals. People who observe the fast believe that God will bless them and their spouses with a long life and an abundance of joy, wealth, and prosperity. If you are keeping the fast, Sargi is unmissable because most women do not eat or drink before sighting the moon.

Therefore, you must eat right before the sunrise. It will help you observe the fast without experiencing cravings or health issues. We spoke to Manpreet Kaur Paul, executive nutritionist, Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, Faridabad, to bring you a list of seven food items you must eat in Sargi.

Yoghurt And Dairy Alternative In Sargi Add Calcium To The Body

The expert said that one must consume yoghurt or other dairy alternatives before sunrise because they are the best sources of calcium and probiotics. They help to maintain blood pressure and prevent any unforeseen health condition that might require you to break the fast before the moon rises.

If you are lactose intolerant, you should pick alternatives like soy or almond yoghurt. You can also add a few of your favourite berries to the bowl to enhance the flavours.

Whole Grains In Sargi Keep You Energetic Throughout The Day

Manpreet Kaur Paul said, “Whole grains like oats, quinoa, and whole wheat are excellent additions to your Sargi. They provide a steady release of energy throughout the day.”

Whole grains are also loaded with fibre which helps to maintain the cholesterol levels in the body and support the health of the heart. Fibres also ensure good bowel movements and prevent constipation the following day. The expert suggested topping oatmeal with fresh berries and a sprinkle of cinnamon for a nutritious meal before sunrise.

Nuts And Seeds In Sargi Manage Blood Pressure

The nutritionist suggested eating nuts and seeds in Sargi to help you add fibre, Omega-3 fatty acids, and potassium to your meal. Almonds, flaxseeds, and walnuts are the best option.

They make the meal heart-healthy and help the body regulate blood pressure. You can eat them raw, roast them, or add them to sweet dishes, yoghurt, or oatmeal. However, you must control the portion size because seeds and nuts are dense in calories.
