Karwa Chauth is considered one of the most difficult fasts women keep for the longevity of their husbands. They neither eat nor drink anything post-sunrise until they witness the moon and break the fast. Have you ever wondered what you should eat after breaking your fast?

You can just eat anything since you have not eaten all day. Although it feels that hunger is at its peak, nutritionists suggest consuming high-fibre food to break the fast. We connected with Harpreet Kaur, Executive Nutritionist, Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, Panchkula, to understand the importance of consuming the first bite of food after the Karwa Chauth fast.

She said, “Fibre is good for health. It is one of the most misunderstood nutrients despite all its health benefits. It helps in the overall well-being of the body while aiding in weight loss.”

According to the nutritionist, if you add fibre to your everyday diet, it has the following benefits,

  • Reduces risks for stroke
  • Reduces risks for heart diseases
  • Prevents constipation
  • Reduces risks of colorectal cancer
  • Helps you feel full for long
  • Reduces risks of Type 2 diabetes
