Known for its unique flavours and unusual yet wonderful ingredients, a larger part of Japanese cuisine still stands unexplored.  Sushi is one of the few Japanese recipes which have been widely experimented with. Layered in a seaweed sheet and prepared with veggies and a whole range of eclectic ingredients, sushi has gradually become one of the most popular Japanese snack.

All you need to do is, gather some fresh veggies and get going with it. Not only is the recipe simple but we are sure, it will be a detour from some heavy doze Indian preparations. What makes it unique is the fact that you can serve it with anything and everything you want. From tofu, wasabi, soy sauce to even shrimps and broccoli, you can loop in anything healthy and yummy you want while you prep sushi. Here is it’s recipe for you.

Ingredients

  • 3 seaweed sheets
  • 2 cups of cooked white rice
  • 1 cucumber, sliced and cut into thin strips
  • 1 avocado cut into small pieces
  • 1 carrot, sliced and cut into thin strips
  • 2 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teapoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoon of rice vinegar

 Method

Recommended Video

  • Mix rice, rice vinegar, and sugar in a bowl
  • Whip the mixture well
  • Add a pinch of sugar and salt to the veggie strips
  • Spread the rice mixture on a seaweed sheet
  • Layer the veggies on top neatly
  • Gently start rolling the seaweed from the edge in order to prepare a long roll
  • Cut the roll into smaller piece, ensuring they are not very thin
  • You can let the sushi rest for a while
  • Serve it with any kind of sauce you like
  • Since it’s a snack, you can serve with a light curry or a variety of Indian chutneys too
  • Sushi has been interpreted in a variety of ways. In case you like fish or mushroom, you can always loop in those ingredients.
