Kimchi pancakes are very versatile and can be enjoyed as a side dish or a main meal. It is flavorful, crispy, and packed with nutrition. If you are interested in making kimchi pancakes at home, here are the steps that you can follow: 

How To Make Kimchi Pancake: 

Kimchi Pancake

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, water, egg, salt, and pepper. Now mix all the ingredients well in the bowl. Set the mixture aside for 10 to 15 minutes to allow it to rest.

2. In another mixing bowl, add the chopped kimchi, scallions, and a few pinches of salt. Mix well and set aside.

3. Now heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add some vegetable oil to the skillet and swirl it around to coat the entire surface.

4. Add the kimchi-vegetable mixture to the flour-water mixture and stir well.

5. Ladle a small amount of the mixture onto the skillet and spread it out evenly to create a thin pancake.

6. Cook the pancake for 2-3 minutes until the edges start to turn golden brown.

7. Flip the pancake over with a spatula and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until both sides are golden brown.

8. Repeat the process with the remaining pancake batter until all the batter is used up.

9. Serve the kimchi pancakes hot with your favourite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup chopped kimchi
  • 1/4 cup chopped scallions
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

  • Step 1 :

    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, rice flour, egg, and cold water until you get a smooth batter.

  • Step 2 :

    Add chopped kimchi, sliced scallions, and salt, and mix well. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and some oil.

  • Step 3 :

    Pour the batter onto the pan to make a pancake.

  • Step 4 :

    Cook the pancake for approximately 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Flip the pancake over, add a little more oil if needed, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown.

  • Step 5 :

    Repeat the process, adding more oil for each pancake. Once the pancakes are cooked, cut them into bite-sized pieces and serve hot with your favourite dipping sauce.
