This Chinese restaurant at the lobby level of Eros Hotel exudes an age-old charm. A big wine wall welcomes you in this spacious dining room overlooking a private lawn. The vintage chandeliers across the space add to the charm.

Empress Of China - Food Menu

The restaurant specialises in offering flavours from three main provinces of China - Szechuan, Yunnan, and Hunan. To ensure that the visitors get to enjoy authentic flavours, all the recipes are prepared and presented using age-old recipes.

My Experience

Imagine yourself sitting by a big window overlooking a lush green lawn on a sunny winter afternoon, relishing a glass of refreshing orange drink and scrumptious treats from Chinese provinces Szechuan, Hunan, and Yunnan. My last weekend was such at the Empress of China restaurant at Eros Hotel.

I was welcomed with a refreshing orange drink and soon the staff was up to know my choices, allergies if any, and special requests. For appetisers, I enjoyed some freshly made corn cake, a specialty at the restaurant along with crispy spinach. These are appetisers you won’t get at a regular Chinese place. Native to the provinces the restaurant specialised in, these starters were rich in flavour and light on the stomach. Next were some melt-in-mouth dumplings with hot and crispy spring rolls and chilly paneer making it to my plate. To be honest, they were worth the binge.

Before jumping on the main meal, our chef suggested we enjoy some hot soup and I went for a bowl of manchow soup. Warm and wholesome, my heart was full as I had my soup.

For the main course, the chef suggested taking the classic Chinese route, some tofu curry with steamed jasmine rice, a combination that would make you want more. And now for my favourite segment, the dessert. If you are a dessert lover, you will love the sweet treats served here.

Date pancakes were crisp pockets filled with a date paste and freshly made, hot honey noodles topped with sesame seeds gave the dessert course the perfect crunch. Fried lichi ice cream was another highlight of the dessert menu. Fresh litchis dunked in ice cream and fried with a thick crunch layer on the outside, you might feel guilty for being greedy with this last course but don’t be, it is all worth it!
