‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015)
‘Bajirao Mastani’ is an epic historical romance drama flick that narrates the love story of Maratha Peshwa Bajirao I and his second wife, Mastani. The movie saw Padukone come together for the second time with Bhansali and Ranveer Singh and featured Priyanka Chopra as his first wife, ‘Kashi’. ‘Padmaavat’ (2018)
Padukone collaborated for the third time with Bhansali and Singh and starred in the titular role opposite actor Shahid Kapoor who plays a Rajput king. Padukone essayed the role of a Rajput queen whose tales of beauty lured a Mughal king, Sultan Alauddin Khilji played by Ranveer Singh right up to her the doors of her kingdom. ‘Padmaavat’ is based on an epic poem by Malik Muhammad Jayasi and Padukone steals our heart away in a jiffy as the old world period drama queen.
