We spoke to Payal Grover, ayurvedic expert and Founder of Ashpveda, to get our hands on the home remedy that people can use to reduce belly button pain. They said, “Ayurvedic medicine has long relied on the healing properties of cumin to provide relief from a range of stomach ailments, including troublesome issues like indigestion, diarrhoea, troublesome gas, and uncomfortable acid reflux.”

Cumin Seeds

She added that there is existing and ongoing research suggesting the potential of cumin seeds to alleviate symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal pain, and pain in the belly button.

The spice might not cure the root cause of the problem, but it can help with reducing the symptoms, irritation, and discomfort. Adding it to your diet can help you keep belly pain at bay. You can also make tea by boiling a tablespoon of cumin seeds in a cup of water and straining them after 5 minutes.

Cumin Seeds With Carom Seeds

The expert shared another combination of cumin (jeera) and carom (ajwain) seeds. This combo has been found to have benefits for the digestive system and work towards alleviating the abdominal or stomach discomfort.

This combination of spices is also associated with reducing chest pain due to heartburn and persistent queasiness associated with nausea. It can also relieve cramps and pain due to gastrointestinal distress.

The remedy requires you to roast a tablespoon each of cumin seeds and carom seeds in a hot pan to extract their medicinal benefits. Once it cools down, add a teaspoon of black salt and blend the mixture. You can eat it as is, or add it to a drink or food recipe. You can also consume cumin and carom seeds by boiling them in a cup of water and straining the tea.

Asafoetida And Water: Grandmother’s Home Remedy For Belly Button Pain

My grandmother and mother used this remedy on me, and it has worked like magic in alleviating pain in the abdomen. You have to take half a teaspoon of asafoetida and add it to a tablespoon of hot water.

Let the asafoetida dissolve in the water until your entire house is filled with the pungent smell of asafoetida. Remove it from the flame after 5 seconds and let it cool down a bit. It should not be entirely cold but a little warm when you apply it to the belly of the patient.
